About Recoil Rider
My name is David, and I design and manufacture Recoil Rider grips out of central Alabama. I started Recoil Rider because I was not satisfied with the revolver grips I had tried for conceal carry. I found that rubber grips were more pleasant to shoot and train with because they absorb recoil, but their "tacky" nature made carrying AIWB uncomfortable since they snagged on clothing and felt uncomfortable against my stomach. Wooden or G10 grips solved the comfort problems for conceal carry, but they sacrifice the recoil-absorbing properties of rubber.
Since I couldn't find the right grips for myself, I decided to make my own. I set out to combine the best of both worlds: the recoil mitigation of rubber grips with the carry-comfort of wooden grips. By using a rubbery material with a non-tacky surface finish, I was able to create grips that absorb recoil and are comfortable for conceal carry. By using an internal honeycomb structure that acts as an internal spring, I was also able to reduce the weight of the grips while reducing the perceived recoil of the revolver. My S&W 642 went from 15 oz, to 13.7 oz and shoots softer than ever. These grips have a non-traditional appearance because the design is purely utilitarian.
After I received a handful of requests to purchase the grips I made, I realized that many other folks who EDC snubnose revolvers for self-defense share my priorities, so I decided to make my grips available to everyone. Recoil Rider Grips for the Taurus 856, and Kimber K6s are currently in development.
All Recoil Rider revolver grips and conceal-carry accessories are made in the USA. Recoil Rider is Veteran-owned and operated: I am former USAF with 2x AFSOC deployments to Afghanistan. I also run the butterfly knife company Zippy Balisong LLC. For the knife afficionado's out there, you can find me at www.zippybalisong.com and at Blade Show Atlanta (I'm table 33i this June, 2025).
