This is my second purchase from Recoil Rider. I really liked it on my model 360PD (EDC), so I am a repeat customer. I put the smaller size on my model 637 (my New Jersey reload).
I ran it through similar paces with both 125 grain .38 +P and 158 grain +P (100 rounds each). The event where a last ejected shell casing catches still exists as per my initial review, but I now have developed muscle memory to overcome this. Obviously not too troublesome as I outfitted a second J Frame revolver.
These grips most certainly have a positive effect on felt recoil.
I definitely recommend these grips for the person who carries a snub-nosed revolver of any make or model.
I was surprised to discover the shock absorbing properties of this new Recoil Rider Grip. The material that it is made of is different from any grip I have encountered in the past. It is not sticky at all, absorbs shock like rubber (but much more so) and feels more like a foam. It’s extremely light and the grip actually weighed in at less than an ounce. 23 grams or 8/10’s of an ounce to be exact.
I fired both 38 Special 148 gr Wadcutters and full house 158 gr 357 Magnum JHP Self Defense rounds and was quite impressed by the tamed “felt recoil”. Other highlights of this grip:
• I ordered the Large. (It comes in two sizes) Don’t be misled by the word large, this is a small grip. Basically a “Boot Grip” with a 3 finger purchase.
o I opted for the $10 discount for a cosmetic blem unit but can’t find a blem.
• The entire grip is shock absorbing but especially the entire backstrap.
• It is a precision fit. You slide it on the frame with a bit of force, and it snap fits into place at the end of travel.
• It’s removable, (albeit not too easily) but there is no reason to remove it once installed.
• It increases your reach by approximately ¼” and makes my SP101 3” feel a bit heavier at the muzzle. (A good thing to help counter muzzle rise, but something to be aware of as this may or may not work for you).
• Put your Recoil Rider equipped SP in a quality IWB holster and your SP will disappear under a loose fitting T-shirt.
o You may find yourself checking to see if you forgot to don your firearm.
• If (like me) you’ve tried every grip available for the SP101 and are still searching, I’d recommend you give this Recoil Rider a try.
I just installed the Recoil Rider revolver grips on my Taurus 856 and I'm very happy with them. I got the big grip and it feels so good in my hand. I would recommend this product to anyone that needs a grip that absorbs recoil like your product does. Thank you very much. Ron Cain
I wanted a small compact grip for edc but able to get a good grip when needed. Obviously any recoil reduction is a bonus. Recoil Rider grips delivered. Not only a great feeling grip (texture is somewhat soft yet grippy). It has extra rubber padding up the back strap really taking the bite out of recoil for defensive loads. The grip angle is very good. I considered factory grip angle fine. But after having the Recoil Rider grip changes the angle slightly. The result is a more natural point of aim. As soon as I throw the gun up, I am looking straight down the sights, every time. These grips are awesome! I have a Ruger SP101 3” 38 spl I will be buying a set of these grips for it. Great product and quick shipping. Get behind family owned and operated businesses. They are our life blood.
Shoot Straight,

Bought 1 for my Ruger LCRX. Great grip comfortable and helped with my shots / recoil. SO bought another for my 642 S&W. comfortable and also better on the recoil. I definitely recommend. both works with my speed loaders.
I bought a set for my Taurus 856UL and Immediately noticed a weight reduction. I put them on my scale and it was confirmed. Close to 2 once’s lower than with my old grips. It is also much more pleasant to shoot. Thank you for a great product folks!!
Much better than the factory grip
This is my third Recoil Rider grip. (I know there's a program for that) and I was not surprised to find it fit perfectly. I bought a blem this time, I swear I can't find what's the matter with it. I keep buying these because they're lighter, really absorb recoil and couldn't be made better. I use them on revolvers, all of which can all use with a little bit less weight. The last two have been a boot grip. Obviously I think these are the best on the market.
Very good feeling in the hand, it's soft without being sticky like the original grip on my LCR, making it a superior pocket carry grip option. 10/10 would buy again if another was needed.
I really am a huge fan of this grip. The reduced forces felt from heavy loaded 357 mag are very noticeable. The grip itself is more than enough to hang onto while also providing the correct make/texture to pull cleanly from concealed with no issues. I’ll be looking here first for grip upgrades every time.
Will add the customer service answering questions have been A+
I have much larger-than-average hands, and it's such a relief to find grips that specifically come in a Small and Large size. The Large size completely fixes any issues I had with getting the correct trigger reach thanks to a nice thick backstrap.
I was skeptical at first about the claim that they provided the squishiness of rubber without the tacky-stickiness that drags on clothing, and since I'm shooting .22WMR I'd be fine even if they were solid G10, but that's exactly how they work. I've got some hockey tape on mine for if my hands get sweaty, but as far as drag on clothing the grips are perfect even without it.
The size is also excellent, being no taller than the factory grip option, so no issue with concealment.
I will definitely be picking up another set whenever I get a centerfire revolver.
Fits perfectly and securely on my S&W 340PD I carry for personal protection while camping/hiking/trailing.
The thick padding on the grip makes putting .357 through it significantly more tolerable, with .38/+P ammo benefiting as well.
The texture of the grip is perfect: not sticky or tacky, and has the right amount of knurling/texture to preventing it from being slippery.
I'm sure this will vary person-to-person but the Large option of the grip actually fit the shape of my hand perfectly. I have larger than average hands with long fingers, and the bottom has just enough for my pinky to hold securely without sacrificing the rounded ergonomics on the bottom.
Quality product. 100% happy with my purchase. Will recommend to anyone looking for a quality J-Frame grip.
Made it to the range to try these grips out. Was very pleased with the recoil. I have a Smith & Wesson 940 9mm Davidson Exclusive that came with VZ boot grips. With those grips I would get a sore wrist after 25 rounds or so. Now with these new Recoil Rider grips, I can shoot a full box of 50 rounds and not notice any soreness in my 68 year old wrist. The grips conceal very well AIWB or in the pocket of cargo pants/shorts.
I’m very happy with these grips and with my XL size hands I still get a little bit of my pinkie on them. The install was as easy as it gets.
Thanks for a great grip.
Excellent grips . Lightweight, not too sticky or grippy but plenty grippy enough. Can get three fingers on it. Works well in AIWB or OWB holster or out of pocket . Recoil absorption is really good . Best all around I’ve found and i have accumulated a drawer full of grips for j-frames and LCRs through the years .
I researched all the well-known replacement grips. Chose RecoilRider Boot grips for my 642 and CCWs for my 640. Replaced factory grips. Unbelievable difference in felt recoil on both as well as much improved grip position. Very natural grip angle.
These are outstanding.

If I had these grips years ago, I wouldn't have sold my J-Frame.

The recoil mitigation is noticeable. It shoots more like a rubber grip but without the downsides.
