Sizing Guide

Standard Fit: Best for small and medium-sized hands. (At or below chart measurements).
Large Fit: Best for larger hands (At or above chart measurements). Thicker backstrap improves recoil reduction.
Concealment Note: Both sizes are fully optimized for AIWB and pocket carry. Choosing Large only increases grip width and backstrap thickness - overall length remains the same.

Assembly

If you are having difficulty installing or removing the grip, I recommend heating the grips lightly and evenly with a hair dryer on low heat. This will make them more pliable and easier to install and remove. Do not use excessive or prolonged heat, as this could cause discoloration.

A very good grip

A very good grip, great fit, texture is good for these 82 year old hands. I would recommend this grip as it is much better than factory grips,also easy to install and very secure !

The Pachmeyer grip I was using was too "sticky" for concealed carry

The Pachmeyer grip I was using was too "sticky" for concealed carry. Near impossible to get clear of clothing. This grip works well. Not as much recoil absorption, but less tacky. Fits my hand well. First time shooting full house .357 was a surprise, but manageable.

A concealed carry grip that covers all the bases.

I was surprised to discover the shock absorbing properties of this new Recoil Rider Grip. The material that it is made of is different from any grip I have encountered in the past. It is not sticky at all, absorbs shock like rubber (but much more so) and feels more like a foam. It’s extremely light and the grip actually weighed in at less than an ounce. 23 grams or 8/10’s of an ounce to be exact.
I fired both 38 Special 148 gr Wadcutters and full house 158 gr 357 Magnum JHP Self Defense rounds and was quite impressed by the tamed “felt recoil”. Other highlights of this grip:
• I ordered the Large. (It comes in two sizes) Don’t be misled by the word large, this is a small grip. Basically a “Boot Grip” with a 3 finger purchase.
o I opted for the $10 discount for a cosmetic blem unit but can’t find a blem.
• The entire grip is shock absorbing but especially the entire backstrap.
• It is a precision fit. You slide it on the frame with a bit of force, and it snap fits into place at the end of travel.
• It’s removable, (albeit not too easily) but there is no reason to remove it once installed.
• It increases your reach by approximately ¼” and makes my SP101 3” feel a bit heavier at the muzzle. (A good thing to help counter muzzle rise, but something to be aware of as this may or may not work for you).
• Put your Recoil Rider equipped SP in a quality IWB holster and your SP will disappear under a loose fitting T-shirt.
o You may find yourself checking to see if you forgot to don your firearm.
• If (like me) you’ve tried every grip available for the SP101 and are still searching, I’d recommend you give this Recoil Rider a try.

It be kicking but it ain’t hurting

Second review, finally I took my Ruger sp101 9mm out with the recoil rider large grip and it is painless. The material be used is just perfect for revolver grips. This design is minimalist, yet just as comfy as the hogue mono grip when shooting. It doesn’t reduce recoil obviously, but it gives a comfortable surface area for recoil to spread out, in turn giving no hot spots and a more comfortable shooting experience. I had no trouble with clearance on the cylinder with moon clips. I could easily drop 500 rounds of +p(if I was rich). I only shot 40 rounds of 124 +p, and a box an a half of 115 federal target and half a box of Tula 115 steel case which may be nato spec they kicked more than the federal; about 130 rounds total( would shoot more but ammo is expensive). These grips real improved the ergonomics, I can get slightly higher on the gun, and with a proper revolver grip with my support hand thumb clamped behind the webbing of my shooting hand I can fight the recoil and the recoil can’t hurt me. Great design David, sorry this review to so long to get out.

I'm basically a S&W revolver guy but I own a 2001. .38 Spl. Ruger SP101 with a 3” barrel. Over the years, I have sought to improve the trigger stroke by using a Wolff nine-pound hammer spring and by centering the trigger, hammer and hammer dog (what S&W calls a double-action sear) with the appropriate shims. Once I got the Recoil Rider grip installed, I could feel an improvement in the ergonomics of the trigger stroke in dry fire. A few days later, I was able to do “fruit salad” comparison in live fire. (To minimize aggravating the arthritis in my wrists, I used a medium-velocity, 148 gr. wadcutter .38 Spl. handload.) The fruits in the salad:

- The apple: Ruger SP101, 3” barrel, 26.0 oz. with large-fit Recoil Rider grip, - The orange: S&W Model 60, 3” full-underlug barrel, 23.0 oz with rigid polymer RevolGrip, unloaded;
- The apricot: S&W Model 640 with the older 1.875” barrel, 21.5 oz. with Hogue Centennial Tamer Grip, unloaded.

Comparing the apple to the orange, the Recoil Rider grip, along with an extra 3 oz., came out ahead for absorbing recoil but, even allowing for the longer, clunkier trigger stroke of the Ruger, I still think that the rigid RevolGrip came out slightly ahead in ergonomics.

Comparing the apple to the apricot was difficult because the much lighter “no-dash” Model 640 had more muzzle flip but I think came out slightly ahead in cushioning.

In summary, I am happy with the Recoil Rider grip and have no hesitancy in recommending it, particularly in light of the two-finger versus three-finger options for guns other than the SP101 and the choice between “standard fit” and “large fit,” the latter being explained with the measurement chart on the website.

A final note: My first Recoil Rider grip for the SP101 did not easily let the internal lugs pop into the hole for the large-diameter pin that Ruger uses with the OEM rubber grips. Being concerned that I might not be able to remove the Recoil Rider grip for maintenance or to reinstall the OEM rubber grip, I used the contact form on the website and, within a few days, received a replacement that installed easily along with a pre-paid envelope to return the first grip.
