I replaced the factory grips on my LCRX because the relief pattern on the original rips hurt with recoil from the pistol. The recoil rider replacements solved this problem. As an added benefit I really like the "pinky shelf" on the bottom of the grip. It really completes the solution.
Absolutely tamed the recoil on my 856 Executive Grade. A completely different shooting experience. Now my aging hands can handle any (reasonable) load I put through it. Five stars.
I can say a lot about these grips so I'll try to keep this TLDR. I shoot over 1000 rounds a month through 3 j-frames. These are almost all 148 gr. Wadcutters, this is because a basic bitch 442 or 642 will make your hand bleed at around 500 rounds with any other round. The problem is, I want to carry a 158 grain +p semi wadcutter. I want a training round with a near identical point of impact and recoil as my carry round. But I scared, the web of my hand is scared. Previously, the solution was to run a VZ high horn grip. That particular grip is a 10/10 to carry appendix and hard as a slab of granite during recoil. So I'm still scared. I find Recoil Rider while doom scrolling for "pussy hand" pills and I buy one. I like it, it's not as awesome to carry appendix as the VZ grip, but it's still a 9/10. I change back back to the VZ. Awhile later Recoil Rider releases this boot cut grip and I think this will be perfect for winter coat pocket carry. Returning back from the range, just now, as in only moments ago and I'm in love. This grip runs, the faster you run it the "softer" it feels. Groups tightened dramatically while point shooting at 7 to 8 feet. No more blood on my carry gun, no more band aids on the web of my hand, no more 8 year old girls calling me a pussy. Nice. So now I can carry the Underwood 158 +p and load training rounds with a comparable POI. All is right and I can finally get around to replacing the batteries in my smoke detectors.
Let me start by saying this: when I call these grips good enough, that’s not an insult. That’s the highest praise I can offer. History is littered with people chasing perfection like a dog chasing cars, never catching it, and usually getting flattened in the process. Perfection’s a fool’s errand. What matters is balance. What matters is good enough to never quit.
And these grips? They are the very embodiment of that principle. They’re not too short, not too long. The texture grips without grabbing. They flex just enough to eat the recoil without turning to mush. They’re tough, but not so tough they beat your hand into submission. Light enough to carry all day, solid enough to trust with your life.
They have that rare, rugged kind of beauty born from utility, the kind that doesn’t care if you notice. They don’t brag. They don’t sparkle. They just work.
These grips are a quiet masterclass in restraint and engineering sanity. They don’t reach for the mythical title of "the best." They just get up early, roll up their sleeves, and do the damn job. And in doing so, they prove an ancient truth that every honest mechanic, soldier, and engineer knows in their bones:
Good enough is just right.
Easy installation. They fit the outline of the back strap perfectly. They have give but aren't overly grippy to snag in concealment.
Handles recoil well and is the best I have found for pocket carry.
Perfect size and handles recoil like a champ
Great fit and finish. I wasn't sure what to expect from these when I got them. They are slick enough to draw easily from a pocket, and provide a good amount of cushion. Installation was very easy.
So happy I found this grip for my old 638. It is comfortable & gives you a firmer more secure grip especially when drawing. The grips look really good & the extra pinky space doesn't hamper concealability at all.
These fit my hand better than the UC grips I’ve been using, and im expecting recoil should be a lot easier to deal with! The whole grip feels like itll absorb a ton of shock, which’ll be perfect.
Shot the Gun with new grips today They were excellent !!!!
Perfect fit, comfort, and concealment for my Diamondback SDR. 100 rounds of 38 Special and zero discomfort like the original wood grips. Very happy to have discovered RR grips after a big name brand grip advertised to fit the SDR didn't fit.
This grip is very comfortable and thoughtfully designed. It fits the SDR perfectly with the hammer spur. The second they release a k-frame grip I’ll be buying!!
I pocket pretty much exclusively and the firearm I use is a S&W 642air weight. A light revolver gives you some pretty stout recoil and I have found using wadcutter ammo and the right grips makes a huge difference. These are those grips. Large enough to sufficiently dampen recoil while still small enough that pocket carry still works just fine. I have tried numerous different grips for my beloved airweight. These are the best ones yet.
Exceeded expectations! Fit, finish, concealment, and comfort are excellent. Purchased to replace the factory wood grips on my Diamondback SDR that look good, but not comfortable. Just shot 100 rounds of 38 special and big improvement. First ordered a G10 grip from a major brand advertised to fit the SDR. The bad news was that it didn't fit. The good news is that I discovered Recoil Rider.

If I had these grips years ago, I wouldn't have sold my J-Frame.

The recoil mitigation is noticeable. It shoots more like a rubber grip but without the downsides.
